Intentional Conscious Community Planning Hands-On Workshop (For Beginners/Forming Communities to Established Communities):

March 27-30, 2009

Sponsored by The Intentional Conscious Communities of Costa Rica (ICCCR); hosted by Fincas Amanecer and Fincas Paraiso Verde; Londres, Quepos, Costa Rica

These workshops are for the following people:

• People considering joining or forming their own intentional conscious communities in Costa Rica
• People who are just beginning a new community in Costa Rica and are seeking stewards and/or “conscious” investors
• Developers (so you can see how there is money to be made in eco-sustainable communities—instead of casino’s or another strip mall!)
• Established communities who wish to network; learn about social media network marketing and new online PR/communications/marketing strategies; need help planning; and other technical operational skills of running a community

Workshops include the following:

• Wish List exercise: Which is a fun, creative tool for short and long term business/community planning and budgeting (for people who hate this kind of stuff!)  Result of this workshop:  you will have the blue-print for your own marketable business/community plan for human and financial resources and investments
• Alternative funding options for social entrepreneurial projects as well as social media network (internet) PR/communications/marketing (again for human and financial resources) as well as introduction to the Intentional Conscious Communities of Costa Rica (ICCCR)
• Legal insight into having a business or property in Costa Rica (it can get tricky!  Especially if you do not speak Spanish!)
• Hands-on Pigs for Propane introduction
• Edible and medicinal plant eco-tour of host organic farm community, Fincas Paraiso Verde (you can do this too!  Another income source for you!)
• Fun community-building exercises and games you can do with your own community members in order to establish and maintain group union, communication and motivation, also useful to maintain group ownership!

Workshop Leaders:

Laura Friberg, IC Workshop Community Building Facilitator, is currently a student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She has a BSc in neuroscience from Carleton University and is completing her Bachelor in Education with a focus on global education through international collaboration. She has been doing community work as a youth worker for 3 years and hopes to continue by teaching abroad next fall.

Kelly N Patterson, Wish List and Internet Marketing/PR/Communications 101 Facilitator, is known as a nonprofit guru on 4 continents; social media network market specialist; international development writer, editor, and communications specialist; as well as a current journalist for several papers/websites including the San Francisco Examiner and the Voice of Nosara

Elena Ross, IC workshop hostess “with the most-ess” and founder of Fincas Amanecer, http://fincaamanecer.com/aves.htm , has worked in eco-tourism and hospitality in Costa Rica since 1990, with real estate experience in the US;  she also co-authored of Discovering Costa Rica with GPS (1996.)
